In “Inception” (2010), Christopher Nolan didn't fake the mirror scene — he built it. A massive, real mirror placed on a Paris bridge so the actors could interact with something tangible.The problem was obvious. Put a camera in front of a mirror... you see the camera. So instead of avoiding it, they filmed everything and then used subtle VFX to remove the crew. Artists reconstructed the environment and painted it back into the reflection where the camera should've been.
